scan0008Ethel L. Stapleton, 59, of Columbia died July 14 at University of Missouri Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, July 24, 2009 at Progressive Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 1-2 PM Friday at the church. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery.

Ethel Stapleton was born December 30, 1949 in New Bloomfield, Mo. the daughter of John Henry and Geraldine Broaden Jefferson. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Survivors include her mother Geraldine Jefferson of the home, one son Edwin Stapleton of Evansville, IN., two brothers Henri Jefferson of Columbia and Charles Jefferson of Del Rio, Texas, and one sister Barbara Jefferson of Kansas City, Mo.

Leonard Nelson Smith

in-memoriam-phLeonard Nelson Smith entered into this world on June 16, 2009 the son of Walter G. and Mamie B. Williams Smith in Bell Air, Mo. He departed this earthly walk on July 4, 2009 at the University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics after a long illness.

Leonard was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church in Speed, Mo.

He leaves to cherish his memory one son Gerald Smith of Richmond, Va., three daughters Cheryl Smith, Teresa Smith and Auida Smith all of Springfield, MA., two brothers Winfred Smith and Raymond (Helen Christine) Smith, both of Columbia and one sister Lela B. (John) Ransey of Detroit, MI. and 7 grandchildren

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Saturday , July 11, 2009 at H.T. May and Son Funeral Home in Boonville. Burial will be held at a later date.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00PM Thursday, July 9, 2009 at Friendship Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 10-12 Thursday at the church. Burial will be at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, Mo.

Clarence Hill was born May 8, 1929 in Floristell, Mo., the son of George and Ella Johnson Hill. He was employed by the Boone County Road Division. He had a great love for motorcycles. He was an Army Veteran. He was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church in Wentzville.

Survivors include his wife Genevieve Hill of the home, two sons Phillip Connor of Jefferson City, Mo., and Robert Whitaker of St. Louis, Mo, one step-son Chris Monroe of Columbia, three daughters Janice Watson of Jefferson City, Patricia Mcghee and Marilyn Booth both of St. Louis, Mo., one brother Arvin Hill of Minneapolis, MN., 2 sisters Barbara Parker of St. Louis, Mo., and Mary Woolfork of Wentzville, Mo., one sister-in-law Agnes Hill of Wentzville, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, 2 sisters, 1 son and 1 daughter.
