Shaun Long, 30, of Columbia died Saturday August 1, 2009 at University Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 5:30 PM Tuesday at Christian Chapel Church. Family will receive friends from 11-1 PM Tuesday at the church and visitation will be from 11-5:30 Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Columbia Cemetery.
Shaun Long was born August 4, 1978 in Columbia the son of Debra Long and Major Nelson.
Survivors include his wife Brandee Long and his daughter Kyndal of the home, his parents Debra Long of Columbia and Major Nelson of Pine Bluff AR., two brothers Jamad Carter and Kendale Carter both of Columbia, four sisters Shalana Richardson, Jessica Richardson and Lakrisha Parker all of Columbia, and Carolyn Nelson of Minnesota.
Memorials are suggested to “ Long Strokes For A Cure”.

Alicia Janae Townsend

Alicia Janae Townsend age 2 months died Saturday July 11, 2009 at Children’s Hospital in St. Louis. Graveside services were held Friday , July 17, 2009 at Crown Hill Cemetery in Sedalia, Mo.
ALicia was born May 13, 2009 in Sedalia, Mo., the daughter of Jaimie Taylor and Anthony Townsend.
Survivors include her parents, one brother Isaiah Taylor, five sisters, Meisha Brown, Torie Townsend, Teneya Townsend, Helene Townsend, and Deyonah Taylor.
Rosie Tippin

Rosie Brown Tippin, 72, died Monday, July 20, 2009, after an extended illness.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, August 8 at Calvary Baptist Church, Columbia. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on August 7 at West Blvd. Elementary School
Tippin was born on Jan. 26, 1937 to Herman J. and Ira Belle (White) Brown in St. Louis.
On August 13, 1960 she married Keener Anderson Tippin, Sr., in St. Louis. He preceded her in death.
A graduate of Vashon High School in St. Louis, she graduated from Lincoln University in Jefferson City in 1958 with a bachelor’s degree in business education. She later earned her master’s degree in elementary education from Lincoln.
After stints in the St. Louis Public Schools and the former Lincoln University Laboratory School in Jefferson City, Tippin’s career in Columbia Public Schools began as a reading specialist at West Boulevard. After that, she established her own preschool. Tippin later became an assistant principal at Russell Boulevard Elementary School before becoming principal at West Boulevard.
Tippin was elected to the Columbia School Board in April 2008.
Survivors include two children, Keener A. Tippin II and his wife Sheila, Columbia, and Karen Tippin, Columbia; two sisters, Ruby Jackson, Antioch, Calif., and Ruby Poindexter, St. Louis; two brothers, Hurey Brown, Los Angeles, Calif., and H. Jasper Brown, Jr., and his wife Mary, St. Louis; five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Faye Brown Thompson.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to an educational scholarship the family has established in her name in care of First National Bank in Columbia.

Richard Sallee Jr. 62, of Columbia died Sunday at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday at St. Luke United Methodist Church . Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10-11 Monday at the Church.
Richard Sallee Jr. was born July 15, 1946 in Columbia the son of Richard and Susie Sallee Sr. He was an employee of the University of Missouri.
Survivors include 4 daughters Martha McCoy of Woodridge, Va., Cassandra Moody , Edwinna Rucker and Carolyn Moody all of Columbia. 4 sisters Carrie Wayland of Los Angeles, CA., Tina Sallee of Kansas City, Mo., Fannie Holmes and Rosie Stevens both of Columbia, 14 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both parents, his wife, one brother James Sallee and one grandson.

Lillian L. Verrett, 66, of Columbia died Friday at University Hospital. Visitation will be held from 3-5 Thursday at Friendship Baptist Church. There will be no funeral services.
Lillian Verrett was born December 16, 1942 in Selma, AL. the daughter of Nathaniel Tolbert and Clara Smith. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

One son Darryl Verrett of Warner Robins, GA., 2 daughters LaShena Verrett of New York, NY and Deandrea Verrett of WarnerRObins, GA., 4 sisters Ann Williams of Columbia, Dorothy Fikes of Brooklyn, NY, Doris Crawford of Queens , NY, and Ruby Miller of Montgomery , AL. and one grandchild.

Henry I. “Buck” Banks, 87, of Fayette died Sunday at Fayette Caring Center. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday at the H.T. May and Son Funeral Home in Fayette. Burial will be in the Roanoke Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12-1 Wednesday at the funeral home.
Henry was born August 15, 1921 in Chariton County, MO. the son of Ruben and Everline Hayes Banks. HE was married to Ruby Ginn Banks and she preceded him in death on December 27, 2008. HE was a member of the Second Baptist Church.
