Saundra Martin 49, of Columbia died Thursday, October 29, 2009 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, November 5, 2009 at St. Luke United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Columbia Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11-1 pm Thursday at the church.
Saundra was born May 17, 1960 in Kansas City, Mo. the daughter of Robert Harvey and Velma Farnch. She married Delbert Martin on February 17, 1979.
She leaves to cherish her memory her father Robert Harvey of Columbia, her husband Delbert Martin, three daughters Jessie Harvey-Wallace of Columbia, Ashly Martin of St. Petersburg, Fl., and Melanie Martin of Columbia, four brothers Lewis Harvey and William Harvey both of Columbia, Thaddeus Harvey of Licking, Mo., and Andre’ Harvey of Dallas, Tx., five sisters Kathryn Farnch of Arizona, Rubertha Harvey and Kimberly Farnch both of Columbia, Mary Harvey of Atlanta, Ga., and Elaine Farnch-Davis of Kansas CIty, Mo., and one grandchild Tavares Patrick II, of Columbia.
Willis ” Pee Wee” Jackman

Willis “Pee Wee” Jackman, 84, of Fayette, died Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, October 31, 2009 at Linn Memorial United Methodist Church in Fayette. Burial will be in Mt. Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 6-8 pm at H.T. May and Son Funeral Home in Fayette. The family will have a dinner immediately following the services at Faith Family Fellowship church.
“Pee Wee” was born May 7, 1925 in Hillsdale, Mo. to John Jackman and Brooksie Robinson. He was married to Helen Moore. He was a member of the Mt. Woodland A.M.E. Church. He was a member of the Fayette Optimist Club and also a delivery person for the Howard County Meals on wheels. Memorials are suggested to the Mt. Woodland A.M.E. Church.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Helen Jackman of the home, five sons Willis E. Jackman of Mcleansville, NC., Rev. Michael Jackman, Tim Jackman, Don Jackman and Curtis Jackman all of Fayette, three daughters Sandi Burris of Kansas City, Mo., Gloria Stemmons and Tiffany Harris both of Fayette, 21 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, one sister, three brothers and one grandson.

Jerry L. Ellis, 67, of Columbia, died Friday, October 16, 2009 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 24, 2009 at St. Luke United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Rock Bridge Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10-11 am Saturday at the church.
Jerry Ellis was born July 5, 1942 in Columbia, the son of Jerry G. Ellis and Helen McQuitty.
He leaves to cherish his memory his mother Helen McQuitty of Columbia, three sons: Timothy Ellis and Jason Ellis, both of Columbia and Sherrod Ellis of Ft. Worth, Tx., one daughter Shari Lomax of Raleigh, NC., five brothers Gerry Ellis and Randy Ellis both of Green Bay, Wi., Billy Freelon, Jerod Ellis and Elmer McQuitty all of Columbia, four sisters Rae Marshall, Bonnie Freelon, Tammy Freelon and Ethel Jones all of Columbia, nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Edna Christine Horrell, 98, of Columbia, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at The South Hampton Place. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, October 22, 2009 at Second Missionary Baptist Church 409 Broadway with visitation from 12:00 PM Thursday until time of services at the church. Pastor David Ballenger will officiate. Burial will be at Columbia Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Horrell was born July 27, 1911 In Columbia o Ben and Edna Norman Monroe, the second oldest of thirteen children. In 1930 she married William Hadley Horrell.
Survivors include five children Richard (Minta) Horrell of Denver, Co., Lula(Herbert) Williams of Columbia, Laura(Ronald) Hammond of Goodyear, Az., David (Barbra) Horrell of Columbia, and Florence Pruitt of Chicago, Il., one sister-in-law Joyce Monroe, 23 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two sons, one son-in-law and twelve siblings.

Ollie Mae Herndon,96, of Columbia died Monday, Ocotber 12, 2009 at Columbia Manor. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, October 17, 2009 at St. Paul A.M.E. Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12-2 Saturday at the Church.
Ollie Herndon was born June 23, 1913 in McBaine, Mo. the daughter of Elize and Laura Belle Washington Herndon. She was a member of St. Paul AME Church where she was a member of the Silver Flakes. She was also a member of the Merry Makers of the Blind Boone Center.
Survivors include one son Floyd (Kay) Logan Jr. of Las Vegas, NV., and one daughter Marilyn Marshall of Columbia, Mo., one Sister Kathryn Sumners of Las Angeles, CA., 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, 6 brothers, and 2 sisters, and one son-in-law Billy Joe Marshall.

Helen Jean Turner Sherres was born March 8, 1938 in Fayette, the daughter of Lester Boggs Sr. and Imogne Turner. She was a member of the St. Paul UMC Church.

President Trass was born January 10, 1919 in Vicksburg, Ms., the son of General Trass Sr., and Mary Jordan Trass. He was retired from the US Army after 22 years of service.
He leaves to cherish his memory one son Arthur Trass of Columbia, one brother General Trass Jr. of Lake Providence, LA., and 2 grandchildren.
