William A. Freelon

Freelon 4William A. Freelon, 60, of Columbia surrendered his soul to Jesus Christ on Sunday, June 27, 2010 at University of Missouri Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, July 3, 2010 at St. Luke United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held from 10-11 am Saturday at the church.

William Freelon was born on March 13, 1950 in Columbia, Mo., the son of Jerry  and Myrtle Freelon Ellis. He was a member of All People’s Missionary Baptist Church.

He leaves to cherish his memory his mother Myrtle Ellis of Columbia, three brothers Gerry Ellis and Randy Ellis both of Green Bay, WI., and Jarod Ellis of Columbia, three sisters Rae Ann Marshall, Yvonnda Freelon and Tammy Freelon all of Columbia.

Zenobia Isaac

Zenobia Isaac, 66, of Columbia, entered into eternal rest on Monday, June 21, 2010 at Parkside Manor in Columbia. Visitation will be held from 2-4 pm , on Monday, June 28, 2010 at H.T. May and Son Funeral Home.

Zenobia McClendon Isaac was born on August 9, 1943 in Marianna, Arkansas to Clyde McClendon, who preceded her in death, and Laura Mae Dunn.  

 Nobie, as many affectionately called her, graduated from high school in Marianna, Arkansas, and in 1963 gave birth to her only child, Roger.  In 1968, she moved to Los Angeles, California with her husband Carl Isaac who preceded her in death in 1993. While in Los Angeles, Nobie worked as a nurse at the Veteran’s Hospital for over 18 years. After relocating to Columbia, Missouri in 1988, Nobie began working at the American Red Cross where she retired after 20 years of faithful service.

 

Nobie is survived by her son, Roger McClendon and his wife Tracy McClendon (of Indianapolis, Indiana), three grandsons, Julius McClendon (of Los Angeles, California), Peyton McClendon, and Julian McClendon (of Indianapolis, Indiana), her mother, Laura Mae Dunn, one sister, Patricia Patrick and her husband Howard Patrick, two nieces, Anna Linzie and Augustine Hardin and her husband Chico Hardin, one nephew, William Linzie and his wife Joslyn Linzie (all of Columbia, Missouri), and a host of other family members and dear friends.

Estella Brent

BrentEstella Brent, 77, of Jefferson City, answered the call of Christ on Thursday, June 17, 2010 at University of Missouri Hospital. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Second Christian Church in Jefferson City from 1-3 pm.

Estella Brent was born April 18, 1933 in Forrest City, AR., the daughter of Robert Givens and Luberda McDavis Tyler. She was employed at Capitol Region Medical Center. She was a member of the Second Christian Church, she was also a member of Church Women United, the NAACP, the American Legion, and C.U.R.E.

She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons Michael Sherrod of Glendale, CA., Christopher Sherrod of Jefferson City, MO., two step-sons David Brent Jr. of St. Louis, Mo., and William(Bill) Brent of Miami, FL., five daughters Roberta(Robin) Sherrod, Jeanne Brent, Michelle Brent-Bowser and Christina Brent all of Jefferson City, MO., and Sandra Sherrod of Detroit, MI., two step-daughters Mary Brent of Kansas City, MO., and Diane Brent of St. Louis, MO., 19 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her biological  parents, her foster parents Jack and Essie Bryant,  her husband Rev. Dr. David Brent, two brothers, two sisters, two daughters and one son.

Joan Delores McKinney

scanjoan wrightJoan McKinney of Boonville surrendered her soul to Christ on Thursday, June 17, 2010 at Boone Hospital Center. Graveside services will be held at Tuesday , June 22, 2010 at Bethel Memorial Gardens at 10:00 am. Visitation will be held from 6-7 pm Monday at the H.T. May and Son Funeral Home in Boonville.

She was born in Bunceton Missouri on January 2, 1948 the daughter of Leon and Gladys Wright who preceded her in death.

She graduated from Bunceton High School in 1965 where she was extremely active in band, choir and sports. After high school; she attended Key punch school. She was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church in Speed, Mo., where she played the piano for many years and various organizations.

She worked for McDonald Douglas Aviation in Columbia, Mo and later moved to Kansas City, Mo where she met and married the love of her life Milton McKinney for 40 years. She was employed at T.W.A. and they later moved to Colorado and then they returned to their new home in Boonville, Mo.

TO their union four children were born, Toyika McKinney-Sloan , Tonya McKinney(Toby Calloway), Tonette McKinney, Milton McKinney Jr. and one adopted daughter Kirsten Conson, five grandchildren Tyra and Tailyn McKinney-Callaway, Trinity and Tre’viana Sloan , Milton Jace McKinney and one step-granddaughter Alycia Felgar, two sisters Nellie Ann Ross who preceded her in death, and Brenda Wright of Colorado, three nieces Diedra and Denise Ross of Aurora , CO., and Kistina McZeak(Andrea McZeak, of Lubbock, TX., and one nephew Michael Falls of Westminister, CO.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, auntie, best friend who’s home was open to any child that needed a meal or a bed. She treated all children as if they were her own.

She enjoyed working with Bethel Memorial Garden Cemetery Committee and being a mother to all. 

Georgia Lorene Parker

Georgia L. Parker, 98, of Marshall answered the call of the Lord on  Sunday, June 13, 2010 at Mar-Saline Manor. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, June 24, 2010 at Mt. Calvary Freewill Baptist Church, burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12-1 pm Thursday at the church.

Georgia Lorene Parker was born October 11, 1911 in Napton, Mo., the daughter of Charles and Rose Lee Miles Wright. She was a member of the Mt. Calvary Freewill Baptist Church. She was united in marriage to Robert A. Parker on February 22, 1941.

She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters Sarah Parker, Angel Dibble and Theresa Hockaday(Stevie) all of Marshall, seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert Parker, three sisters Charlee Talton, Erdis Wright and Rosetta Dillard, one brother Phillip Wright Sr., and one daughter Rose Lee Banks.

Georgia Coleman Montgomery

Montgomery Georgia Coleman Montgomery, 93, of Boonville  surrendered her soul to Christ on Monday, June 7, 2010 at RIverdell Care Center in Boonville. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm Saturday, June 12, 2010 at St.Matthew A.M.E. Church. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11-12 pm Saturday at the church. Georgia Montgomery the daughter of Rev. Nelson H. Coleman and Exie Coleman was born on December 28, 1916 in Boonville, Mo.

Georgia accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of the late Rev. Nelson Coleman. She attended Sumner High School in Boonville, Mo.

She was a member of the Morgan St. Baptist Church. She also was involved in UNICEF. She was married to Palmer Montgomery on May 6, 1999.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Palmer Montgomery, one son Eugene Hinkle of Chicago, Il., her sister Gladys Coleman Robinson of Sedalia, 8 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers William, James and Harold
