Bernice Roseman, 78, of Columbia, formerly of Sedalia, transitioned into eternity on Sunday, December 12, 2010 at University Hospital in Columbia. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, December 18, 2010 at Wards Memorial Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Friday at Alexander-May Funeral Home in Sedalia.
Bernice Roseman was born January 31, 1932 in Georgetown, Mo. the daughter of Lydia Thuston and Tilman Frye. She was a member of the Wards Memorial Missionary Baptist Church. She married Johnnie Roseman Jr. who preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters Connie Ramsey(Nathaniel) Aylett, VA., Lucille Green and Phyllis Hawthorne(William) both of Columbia, Mo., two sons Douglas Roseman of Antioch. CA., and David Roseman(Jada) of Oakland. CA., one brother Harrison Frye(Lillian) of Sedalia, Mo., and Rose Madden(CD) of Kansas City, Mo., eight grandchildren Kimberly, Constance, Michael, Ronald(Jet), Bryan, Jennifer, Ashley and Johnnie of whom she loved like her own children, twelve great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, her son, three sisters and a brother.

Catherine Johnson, 65, of Columbia, slept into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, December 12, 2010 at Boone Hospital Center. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, December 20, 2010 at H.T. May and Son Funeral Home in Columbia.
Catherine Johnson was born July 24, 1945 to Odell Miller King and Luther Hinton in Faith,Ar.
Catherine was a fashion designer graduate of Stepens College where she was also a valued employee for Stephens College. For many years she worked at Walmart in Columbia and Fulton and Integrity Home Health Care in Columbia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandmother and grandfather, and two sisters.

Gladys Crook, 85, of Boonville passed into eternity on Monday, December 6, 2010 at Ashley Manor Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, December 11, 2010 at St. Matthew AME Church. Visitation will be from 11-1 pm Saturday at the church.
Gladys Irene Crook, daughter of the late Leslie and Mamie Brown was born on September 17, 1925 in Boonville, Mo. She was preceded in death by her brother Alvin Brown and her sister Maxine Estill.
Gladys was united in marriage to the late Gilbert Smith Crook, to this union two sons and a daughter were born, Gilbert Jr., Terrance Roman and Anita Irene.
She was a long time member of Saint Matthews A.M.E. Church where she was an honorary member of the Stewardess Board. She was a long time member of the Teach and Sew Club and also a member of the CCBC Club.
Gladys was employed as a caregiver most of her life. She continued to care for those she came into contact with in her position as a Foster Grandparent with the David Barton Elementary School. Gladys was a loving , generous, and a sweet person with a “dry sense of humor” .
She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved sons Gilbert Crook(Loretta) of Clinton, Maryland, Terrance R. Crook Crook (Carol) of Boonville, Mo., and a daughter Anita Irene Guess(James) of Buffalo, New York, grandchildren Derrick D. Daniel(Greta), Adrianne Spidell, Toni Vazquez(Raul), Terri Sutton(Al. B.) Stephanie James(Jeffrey) Terrance R. Crook Jr., Jeffery David Crook, Vincent Anthony Crook(Theresa), Crystal S. Crook, and sixteen great-grands, two devoted and loving sisters Clemoris Allen and Roberta McGill, both of Boonville, five nieces Gwen Smith, Ophelia, Chaneta, Janice, and Corita, and one nephew Robert and a host of great nieces, great nephews a God Daughter Debbie Moore, step grandchildren and great grandchildren and many other relatives and good friends.

Ernest H. Forbes Jr., 79, of Boonville passed into eternity on Sunday, December 5, 2010 at Riverdell Care Center. There will be no funeral services at this time.
Ernest Forbes Jr. was born on June 4, 1931 in Michigan. He was a veteran of the US Navy. He retired an a housing inspector for the City of Pontiac.
He leaves to cherish his memory three daughters Julia Forbes of Raleigh, NC., Janet Forbes of Cottonwood, AZ., and Denise Forbes of St. Leonard, New Zealand, and one son Nathan Fields of Phoenix, Az.,

June Jackson, 84, of Columbia slept into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, December 5, 2010 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, December 11, 2010 at Antioch Baptist Church in Waterloo, IA. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10-11 am Saturday at the church.
June Janevieve Jackson was born to Pete and Rose Moss on June 21, 1926 in Waterloo, IA. Her parents , sister Jean Bailey and brothers Onzo Moss, Charles Moss and James Moss preceded her in death.
She was united in marriage to Felix Jackson on March 21, 1973 and he preceded her in death. She was a loving mother of three sons, 2 stepdaughters and 2 stepsons. June attended the Barber School in Des Moines, IA. and was very proud of the fact that she graduated with the highest honors of her class. She was the first female barber in Waterloo, Ia., She was known for being a compassionate, fun loving person. She loved her family. She lived a full and wonderful life which revolved around family, friends and the Order of Eastern Star. Her final favorite pastime was spending time and talking on the phone to her sister Martha Ann.
She joined the Eastern Star in 1966 and became a member of the Daughter of Isis in 1968. She rose through the ranks to become the Illustrious Commander of Zembo Court # 130. She was the Past Worthy Matron of Queen Esther Chapter 6 PLLR of Assembly # 28.
She leaves to cherish her memory three sons Larry Moss(Mary), of Columbia, Mo., Frederick Moss of Waterloo, IA., and Lloyd Henry (Fontella) of Columbia, Mo., two stepdaughters Kerri Massey(Claude) of Milwaukee, WI., and Felecia Jackson Qualls of Columbia, Mo., two stepsons Sheldon Roberson, and Larry Beckley both of Milwaukee, WI., one sister Martha Sims(Henry) of Waterloo, IA., and one brother Hollis Moss (Vivian) of St. Peters, Mo., twelve grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives as well as many friends who will miss her greatly.

William Ralph Lewis Jr., 59, of Sedalia passed into eternity on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm , Monday, December 13, 2010 at Burns Chapel Freewill Baptist Church, visitation will be from 11-2:30 Monday at the church.
William was born May 8, 1951 in Sedalia, Mo., the son of Helen Roseman Butler and the late Ralph Lewis and the late Thomas Butler Jr., who raised him from early childhood. He was a member of Burns Chapel Freewill Baptist Church.
William leaves to cherish his memory his mother Helen Butler of Sedalia, four sons William II(Angel), William III(Emily), Dominique(Keishawna), and Steve, from the state of California, and one daughter Rosemary Lewis of Sedalia, six brothers Thomas(Ordie) Butler of Riverside, Mo., Leonard (Jimmie) Butler of Sedalia, Howard Butler of California, James (Robbie) Butler of Oakland, CA., Henry(Amanda) Butler of Sedalia, and James Snorgrass of Kansas City, five sisters Virginia(Charles) Willis of Sedalia, Patricia (Alvin)Kerr of Kansas City, KS., Helen Simon(Frank) of Chicago, IL., Carolyn(Gary)Cline of Sedalia, and Christel Butler(Robert) of Sedalia, six grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
