Wilford Thompson

Wilford Thompso, 82, of Columbia, formerly of Mexico passed into eternity on Monday, January 31, 2011 at University of Missouri Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, February 4, 2011 at H.T. May and Son Funeral Home in Columbia. Visitation will be from 11-1 PM Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Thompson was born April 16, 1928 in New Florence the son of Frank and Kate McCoy Thompson.
He leaves to cherish his memory four daughters Gerald Faye Hill , Janita Thompson , Katherine Phillips and Gloria Thompson all of Columbia, four sons Wilford Thompson Jr., Elroy Thompson, and Charles Thompson all of Columbia and Otis Thompson of Mexico, Mo., two sisters Mary Thompson of Columbia and Shirley Thompson of Memphis, Tn., 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and three sisters.
Chandia D’Wan Logan-Moncrief

Chandia D. Logan-Moncrief, 35, of Columbia died Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at Boone Hospital Center. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 5, 2011 at 2:00 pm at H.T. May and Son Funeral Home in Columbia. Visitation will be from 12-2 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
Chandia was born October 17, 1975 the daughter of Giles Allen and Gladys Pauline Logan.
Chandia was a loving and gentle as a new born cub, yet she was like a large burning flame. She was always speaking what was on her mind, even when she knew she was wrong. But that was my Chandia.
She attended Columbia Public Schools, and graduated from Rockbridge High School in 1994. She attended Longview Community College, she was going for a degree in Criminal Justice. Chandia heard the heavenly father on January 26, 2011 at 5:00 PM at Boone Hospital. She worked as a CNA at many nursing homes and her favorite was working with the mentally ill.
Chandia was given the nick name “Sham Pudding” by her father and the name “Sweet Thing” by her grandmother. She adored those names. ( Here they are baby girl.
Chandia loved to cook, her specialty was red beans and rice. She loved to sing, read, chat on the phone, write poems to her children, and she loved to play scrabble.
Chandia was married to James Moncrief on April 27, 2002 in Columbia, Mo.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, James Douglas Moncrief, of Springfield, Mo., her Mother Elect Lady Gladys Logan-Roland of Columbia, Mo., her step-father Clarence E. Roland of Columbia, Mo., her children two daughters Cherease’ LaDwan Logan and Guya Grace Moncrief both of the home, one son Zion Devon Rance Moncrief of the home, four sisters Tania Cherea’ Lewis(Joe), Linda Pettigrew, and Brenda Pettrigrew of Columbia, and Francis Goldman of Des Moines, IA., three brothers Courtni Allen Logan(Teresa), Cortinez Lapaige Logan(Resa) both of Columbia, and Quinton Quinzelle Logan of Des Moines, IA., two step-sisters Crystal Ward(Tim) and and Denetria Roland both of Columbia, one step-brother Tommie Crews of Columbia, five aunts Anna Sue Cravens, Leona Wayland and Mary E. Banks of Fayette, Nannie M. Broadus of Boonville, and Dr. Helen Clay of Des Moines, IA., five nieces Cherrelle, Tyahana, Kourtni, Layla and Paige’Sha, five nephews , Titus, Israel, Daylon, Jord’dan and Daniel, one great aunt Victoria Tumey of Columbia and one great uncle Sameul Logan of Slater, Mo. Chandia was preceded in death by her father Giles Allen “Guy” Logan, one brother Lance Devon Banks, maternal grandmother Mary M. Banks, paternal grandmother Maude Ella Hatton Falls, maternal grandfather Cordie Paige, paternal grandfather Robert A. Hatton, step-father Thomas “Skip” Crews, her favorite aunt Teresa Ann Banks, also left to cherish her memory are two loyal friends Kevin Moncrief and Steven Higgs both of Columbia, special cousins Cuqrita Whitley and Eric Cravens and a host of other cousins, friends and relatives.

Carol Ann Porter, 52, of Columbia slept into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at Boone Hospital Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, January 27, 2011 at St. Paul A.M.E. Church , burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Wednesday at the H.T. May and Son Funeral Home in Columbia.
Carol was born May 28, 1958 in Columbia the daughter of Clarence and Betty J. Stapleton Porter. She was a member of the St. Paul AME Church. She was employed at the University of MIssouri Hospital and Clinics.
She leaves to cherish her memory her parents Clarence and Betty Porter of Columbia, two sisters Christy Porter of Columbia and Brenda Porter Logan and her husband Dmitri of St. Joseph, Mo. and one brother Charles E. Porter of Columbia.
She was preceded in death by one sister Loretta J. Anderson.

Ruby Fitzpatrick, 52, of Knob Noster, Mo., took flight with the Angels on Wednesday in Knob Noster.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM. Friday, January 28, 2011 at Shiloh Baptist Church in Warrensburg. Visitation will be from 9-11 AM Friday at the Church.
Ruby was born October 3, 1957 in Chicago the daughter of Aaron and Lucille Coleman.
Ruby loved to sing Crochet and sew. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and calling them by different nicknames. She loved playing her music and she had a lively spirit and she loved all of her family. Ruby loved skating and she skated with a lot of grace “Chicago Style”. Back in the day she was a part of a professional singing group.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Anthony Fitzpatrick, one son Darrell Phillips- Coleman(Sandra U.), three daughters Krystal Danielle Fitzpatrick, Karyn Nicole Burns and Rosetta Michelle Anderson, two brothers John Ruffin and Clarence Taylor, one sister Theresa Coleman, her grandchildren Ayanna K. Wilson, Genesis N. Battle, Lester B. Ayers III, Viola A. Coleman, and Olivia L. Coleman.
She was preceded in death by her sisters Rosie Harris, Viola Cooper and Virginia Cooper and one grandchild Aunjhane A. Booi.

Gilbert Lee McKee, 80, of Columbia, transitioned from this life to the next on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at Harry S. Truman Veterans Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, January 22, 2010 at St. Lukes United Methodist Church with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11-1 PM Saturday at the church.
Gilbert Lee McKee, 80, was born in Fayette, Mo. on May 8, 1930 to Mattie Ray and Hadley McKee.
He was the eldest of two children. He was raised by a Christian couple, Johnny and Rhoddie Ray.
Gilbert was raised in Old Franklin, Mo. As a youth he helped work on the farm. He attended Old Franklin School. Gilbert accepted Christ at an early age. He joined the army where he served in the Korean War receiving medals of Honor. He returned to Columbia and worked at Dorn Cloney Laundry and the Medical Center. He relocated to Kansas City, Mo. and married Ruby Standard McKee. He was employed with Russell Stover Candy Company. He managed a parking garage for JMC and retired from a bank in Kansas City. He returned to Columbia and worked at Nora Stewart Nursery School.
Gilbert enjoyed the blues, guitar, hunting, fishing, baseball, Children, pets and spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, two brothers, one son, three daughters, one grandson and a nephew.
He leaves to cherish his memory his father Hadley McKee of Detroit, Mi., his sister Mary Ann Gray of Columbia, two daughters; Iris Lorene Jones of Quincy, MA., Rev. Debbie Turner of Long Island, NY., two uncles; Marion and Dorothy McKee of Detroit, Charles Patrick of Columbia, an adopted sister Ester Harris of New Franklin, Nephews; William (Alfreda) McKee Jr., James Gray, Michael McKee, Kevin McKee and Calvin Gray, nieces; Genita Jackson and Maxine Gray, he was father to a son in Kentucky and a stepfather to Darrell Hardin of Texas, Roger Hardin, Mark D. Jones, Darrell R. Jones, Richard A. Jones all of Columbia, Lester D. Jones of Boonville, Rodney Jones of Colorado, Sonya Rowles of St. Peters, Mo., Clyde Jones of Columbia, Sena Jones a companion of 20 years and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of relatives and friends.

Edward Gordon was born May 18, 1925 in Columbia the son of Eugene and Frances Mae (Dempsey) Sheley Gordon.
He leaves to cherish his memory one daughter Marilyn King of Columbia, seven sons John King, Robert King, Elias King, Richard King, Eddie King and Anthony King all of Columbia, and James King of Des Moines, IA., four brothers Eugene Gordon II (Alton) of Jena, LA., Shilo Mason Gordon of Los Angeles, CA., Frederick Gordon(Joyce) of Milwaukee, WI., and Howard Gordon of Omaha, NE.., one sister Hazel Story of Columbia. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Geraldine King Gordon, three sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Burns Chapel Freewill Baptist Church in Sedalia, with burial in Crown Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-2 om Saturday at the church.
Anna Joella Fairley was born April 8, 1929 in Beamon, Mo. the daughter of Edward and Betty Duvall Cole. She was a member of the Burns Chapel Freewill Baptist Church.
She leaves to cherish her memory many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
