Jordan Travis, 21, of Boonville, MO passed into eternity on Tuesday April 10, 2012 at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, MO. No Funeral services are scheduled at this time.

Jordan was born June 4, 1990 to Anthony Lee Travis and Teresa Linn Serales in Columbia, MO.

Elder Deborah Annette Greene

April 5, 2012

Elder Deborah Annette Greene, 53, of Columbia and a native of Albion, MI., entered into eternal glory on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at University of Missouri Hospital. Homegoing services will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at 1:00 pm at United Community Cathedral located at 5210 S. Cowan Dr. Columbia, Mo., burial will be at Columbia Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11-1 at the church. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12-1  at the church.

She was born August 24, 1958 in Albion Michigan to William H. Greene Sr. and the late Beulahanne Greene (Woods). Deborah attended Albion Public Schools and graduated from Albion High School in 1976. She attended Spring Arbor College for two years. She gave her life to the Lord at an early age. She was a former member of Grace Temple Church of God in Christ under the late Administrative Asst. Robert L. Brown in Albion, MI. While attending Grace Temple, Deborah was very active in the ministry of music.

In 1995 she was appointed pastor of New Covenant Ministries in Madison, WI.

Deborah was licensed and ordained as an Elder in 1995 under the leadership of Bishop R. L. Freeman, Senior Pastor. Upon moving to Columbia she became an active member and minister of United Community Cathedral.

From 1996 through 2012 she was a member and active minister of United Community Cathedral, where she was in the Prison Ministry, Evangelism Ministry, Music Ministry, Counseling and mentoring, as well as preaching and teaching the gospel.

Elder Greene will always be remembered as a great minister of the gospel. Deb’s effectiveness on so many lives speaks for itself and will for many years to come.

She was employed by the University of Missouri as an administrative assistant in the Dermatology Department. She was instrumental in recruiting and coordinating the medical student’s rotation. 

“Deb” was very outgoing, funny, quick-witted, caring, and giving. “Deb” knew no strangers!

She leaves to cherish her memory her father William H. Greene Sr., of Albion, MI., two brothers William H. Greene Jr., of Albion, MI., and Marcus L, Greene of Pontiac, MI., two sisters Gwendolyn T. Greene of the state of Washington, and Elder Marsha L. Greene of Columbia, Mo., a special sister Gwendolyn Google of Nashville, TN., Aunts Bessie Ward of Grand Rapids, MI., Edith Davis of Pontiac, MI., an Uncle James Fairley(Janice) of Jackson, MI., and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her Mother Beulahanne Greene and two brothers Marlon R. Greene Sr., and Glenn M. Greene.

Annie Hopkins

Eldress Anna Hopkins, 81, of Boonville entered into eternal rest on Friday, March 23, 2012 at University of Missouri Hospital. Funeral Services will be held Saturday March 31, 2012 at 11 AM at the H.T. May and Son Funeral Home in Boonville. Burial will be in Bethel Memorial Gardens in Speed, MO

Mrs. Anna Louise Hopkins was born February 1, 1931 in Speed, Missouri to Carl and Ida Williams. She Attended Sumner High School.

She was the wife of Rev. Horace Hopkins Jr. To this union were born several children: Rev. Keith Hopkins (Columbia, MO), Rev. Dale Hopkins (Boonville, MO), Christi Hopkins (Darrell) (Marshall, MO), and Kay Hopkins (Slater, MO). She was preceded in death by three daughters.

Anna was a very dedicated and a heartfelt person. She worked for many years for the Marshall and Slater Headstart Program. She went on to become the minister of Saint Paul Freewill Baptist Church in Slater, Missouri. During that time she was associated with the Ministerial Alliance in Slater, Missouri as well as a part of Slater’s City Council. Upon her death she worked at Precious Beginnings Daycare. She was also a member of Heath Creek Baptist Church in Boonville, Missouri.

Anna Leaves a great legacy and she will surely be missed by her family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Ida and Carl Williams; two sisters, Helen Pearson and Mary Wells Price; Five brothers, George Williams, Robert Williams, Cecil Williams, Thomas Williams, and Carl G. Williams, She leaves to mourn Earl Williams (Melva), Randall Williams (Elaine) both of Boonville, MO and Frances Warren (Nixa, MO); Six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Trina Cowans

Trina Cowans, of Boonville, MO entered into rest on Wednesday,  March 21, 2012 at University Hospital in Columbia.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday March 25, 2012 at the H.T. May and Son Funeral Home in Boonville at 1:30PM; Visitation will be from 12:30PM to 1:30PM at the Funeral Home.

Trina was born May 8, 1962 in Columbia Missouri at University. Trina is the daughter of Jerneal and Homer Cowans.

She joined Methodist Church at an early age.

She loved to dance, computers, to play with her dogs and spending time with her Grandkids.

Her longtime companion was John Redford (15 years).

Trina was preceded in death by her parents Jerneal and Homer Cowans, one daughter, four brothers and two sisters.

She left to cherish:

Four Children, Aletta Pinkett, Johntell Pinkett, Josh Cowans and Gregory Cowans.

Four Grand Kids, Felicity Cowans, Shannon Cowans, Deondre Chews and Leondre Chews.

Four Sisters, Anna Graham, Alberta Jackson, Margie Butler and Eunice Wright.

Five Brothers, James Jackson, Russell Jackson, Homer Cowans JR, Christopher Cowans and Jackie Cowans, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Trina will be sadly missed by family and friends.

Itha Hicks

Itha Hicks, 91, of Clinton entered into rest on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at her daughters home. Funeral Services are being held at 11 AM on Saturday March 17, 2012 at Clinton United Methodist Church in Clinton, MO. Visitation will be on Friday March 16, 2012 from 6-7 PM at Alexander-May Funeral Home in Sedalia, MO.

Our Beloved Mother, Granny, Me-Maw, All Shaw, and Sticks took flight with the Angels in the early morning of March 14, 2012.  She was born April 7, 1920 in Leeton, MO, the oldest child of, George Herbert and Alice Sweate Fewell.

Mother moved to Clinton, MO with her parents and siblings at a very young age.  She attended Lincoln School which was only for Black students.

Mother was baptized at St. James Methodist Church in Clinton.  In the late 60’s membership was transferred to Clinton United Methodist Church.

Mother  was preceded in death by her parents, George( Herbert) and Alice Fewell,  two(2) sisters, Ruby Fewell and Dormaline, Jacobs, three (3) brothers, Julius, Howard and George Fewell, one sister-in- law JoAnn Fewell.  She was also preceded in death by her spouse(s) Leo Brame and James Hicks, three (3) sons, Paul Fewell Sr.,  John  and Frederick Brame, one (1) daughter Anita Brame, one (1) daughter-in-law Marleen Fewell and one (1) son-in-law, Nathaniel Newbill, Sr.

Mother moved to Sedalia to live with her youngest daughter, Marchita Jackson who also became her Caregiver, along with the family pet Majesty who was very protective of her.

She leaves to cherish her memories, a son, Curtis (Lola) Brame of Clinton, MO, daughters, Alice (Archie) Ross, Katherleen Newbill and Marchita Jackson of Sedalia, MO and Theann (Thomas) McKinney of Blue Springs, MO; three (3) daughters –in-law, Regina Brame of Kansas city, MO; Denise Brame, Kansas City, KS and Lola Brame of Clinton, MO, one (1) sister –in-law, Gloria Fewell, Springfield, Mo.

She was blessed with 22 Grandchildren, 32 Great Grandchildren, and 5 Great Great Grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, along with Mother Butler and Marva Lewis.

Mother’s first job was working at the diner (a railroad car) owned by, Estel White as a waitress.  When   Coca Cola tasted much better from the fountain and good times listening to the “Juke Box.”  She met many friends working at the Diner Railroad Car.  She also did domestic work for the late Charles W Gaines, late Roy Hodina, and Nancy Gaines Nettleblad,

Mother wanted a big Party for her 90th Birthday which wasn’t celebrated until her 91stwhich was attended by lots of family and friends.  Momma loved anything Red. This past Christmas Mica and Markayla Jackson had moms room fixed up in red. All she needed was lights and a tree topper to look like a Christmas tree.(smile)  Until the end she still had her nails painted, of course Red and with designs on them, by two special people in her life Rachell and Shasta.

Momma loved the 4th of August Picnic even when her Mother (Alice) used to have a stand and sell the best Fried Chicken and Fried Peach Pie.

Mother is a (43) year cancer survivor and she did not complain or let this keep her from living life!

Momma attended “True Vine Church of God in Christ” while living in Sedalia. She was a member of DCO and participated in the “Relay for Life Walk.”

Memorials can be sent to “Relay for Life Walk”, Sedalia, Missouri Chapter.

DeAudre O. Johnson, 17, of Columbia, died Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at University Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, March 19, 2012 at H.T. May and Son Funeral Home in Columbia. Visitation will be from 11-1 PM Monday at the funeral home.

 DeAudre Johnson was born February 17, 1995 in Columbia the son of Resa Jenkins and David Jenkins. He played basketball for Douglass High School.

 Survivors include his mother Resa Jenkins  and Father David Jenkins of Columbia, one brother Julius Cureton of Columbia, two sisters Tonisha Jones and Bridgette Jenkins of Columbia, his grandparents Robert Burnett, Carole Jones, Willie Jones and Teola Wright all of Columbia.

William “Jimmy” Nelson

William “Jimmy” Nelson, 62, of Boonville, passed into eternity on Monday, March 5, 2012 at Lakeview Health Care in Boonville, MO. Funeral Services will be at 11am Saturday March 10, 2012 at HT May & Son Funeral Chapel in Boonville; Visitation will be at the chapel from 10-11am.

William was Born August 30, 1949 in Boonville, MO to William E. and Maxine Nelson.

William is survived by one sister, Patricia Nelson of Columbia, MO, several cousins, and his Lakeview Health Care Family.

Bishop Thomas Eugene Sims

Bishop Thomas Eugene Sims of Sedalia, MO was called home by god on February 28, 2012.

Visitation will be March 3, 2012 from 10am until 11am. Home going Services will be Saturday March 3, 2012 at 11am at Freewill Baptist Church in Sedalia MO.

Bishop Sims was born July 27, 1939 to Lucille Petty and Marvin Eugene Sims.
E.T. was employed at the City of Sedalia for 21 years before he retired in 2009 and prior to that he worked at Coke Cola for 22 years.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Willene Sims of the home, his children Charles Ross(Phyllis) of Salina Ks., Eugene(Buddy) Sims of Lompoc Ca., Cassandra Sims-Butler & Lompoc Ca., Angela Sims-Gray(Micheal) of Columbia MO, LaToya Sims of Los Angeles Ca,, LaTwilla Sims-Frelot( Wayne) of Lake Charles La. And Jeanna Sims of Sedalia, Step Children: Christy Tatum Ronald Tatum and Jeffry Polk of Kansas City MO. Sisters: Nancy Sims-VanBuren, Carrie Sims-Brown, Jessie Sims, all of Sedalia MO Dale Sims-Boggs, of Columbia MO Dorothy Sims-Mitchell Kingsport Tn. Brothers: Herman Sims and Matt Sims of Sedalia MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Darla Sims, 2 brothers, Frank Williams and Marvin Sims, 2 step-children Roslyn Tatum and Curtis Tatum.

Etta Carter,  84, of Columbia entered into rest on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at Boone Hospital in Columbia. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, March 1, 2011 at 12:30 PM at St. Luke UMC church in Columbia. Visitation will be from 11am to 12:30pm at the church. Interment will be at Jacksonville Veterens Cemetery following the service.

Mrs. Carter was born June 1, 1927 in Columbia the daughter of William Shelley and Evalena Marshall. She was a member of the 5th St. Christian Church.

She leaves to cherish her memory four sons Robert Prince, Thomas Carter III, David Carter, Brian Carter, one daughter Mary White, two brothers William Sheley and Robert Sheley, and a host of grandchildren.
